So, new blog? YEP!

Updated: Sep 16, 2025

I've never had a blog before — sure, I've journal blogged as a character in the magical universe of text-based role-play too-many-years-ago-to-mention, but never an actual personal blog — so, this should be a fun and exciting new experience!

WELCOME TO A DEER IN WRITING - MY LITTLE BLOG!

I've always loved reading blogs — you know, those posts that hit close to the heart or give you things to try or think about? Especially posts that show who I'm reading about, their emotions and thoughts, their hopes and dreams, and best of all; their reality. Scary to share, but worth it!

I've read blogs for many years, and I finally feel ready to launch myself into this space, too! It's a completely different thing to be a blogger compared to reading blogs — I'll allow myself a little learning curve, and then I'll hopefully have come a bit on the way.

But, what will this blog be about?

Writing, of course! But not only writing, books, and authorship. I'll be sharing...

  • my chaotic backwards-pantser creativity

  • my life and what's happening in my little nook of the world

  • things about my books and goodies (stickers, bookmarks, prints, etc.)

  • perhaps what creative outlets I'm using beyond writing

  • what's to come and what I'm hoping to achieve

  • what frightens, motivates, and pushes me (spite included)

...even what's happening on the business end of indie authorship (running a micro publishing house) and the trials that tosses at you without consideration. I'm located in Sweden, so our taxes, regulations, laws, shipping possibilities, and general costs vary quite largely from say USA or UK.

I'll share as much as I possibly can without baring too much of my quite sensitive soul.

I'm hoping to use this blog as a mix of a journal, an accountability reminder, a connection with you, and even a little bit of a learning tool while hopefully providing laughs mixed with raw honesty, information, and perhaps a smidgin of education thrown in there — it'll be great!

ROSANA'S WRITING NOOK - the original idea

A DEER IN WRITING came to me just a moment AFTER I posted this for the first time, so I had to go back and redo everything because (obviously) I need to be a deer in writing!

This was supposed to be a pure writing and author blog — then this new name popped up, and it's perfect. I am a deer in headlights most of the time (people might think I'm organised, all planned out, that I'm so neat and tidy with my planners, lists, notepads, trackers, calendars... let me tell you, I AM NOT and I probably never will be even if I'd like that very much — at least all those things keep me from spiralling into complete chaos) so naming my blog A DEER IN WRITING is just... perfect.

Shouldn't you have a better blog plan?

Of course, I should, as with everything

There are thousands upon thousands of things I should do first, or know first, or make first, or think about, or calculate for, yada yada... But, do you know what happens when I throw in a "should" when I really want to do something? I DON'T DO IT.

I've spent up to five (F-I-V-E!) years wanting to start a blog, wanting to have a webshop for my books & goodies, wanting to make my own stickers at home, wishing I could create handmade stationary, wanting to make printable reading/writing tracker sheets for people like me who want trackers that are simple to use and require little effort yet makes it visually clear when progress is being made (I do do that, though, for my newsletter subscribers — you should become one to get all those goodies for free along with the free eBook of my romance novella Clearview Cove).

Anyway, I threw the should out the window and sat down to make this blog and this first post.

I've been at it since 09.00, and it's now past 15.30, so it's taken quite a bit of time, but I'm proud of myself for just doing it instead of worrying, wondering, and procrastinating. So, I have a plan for this blog, but instead of letting the Queen of Procrastination and Unstarted Projects — aka: should — stop me, I decided to just go for it this very moment that I got the urge. (However, I have thought of this in depth for nearly two years now, so can't say it's a true whim.)

Posting & grabbing a coffee

I've now spent a good twenty minutes reading through this post (over and over), second-guessing myself, doubting, worrying if my way of blogging is too "in your face" with too much going on in the text. BUT, this is how I really enjoy blogs to be; it stimulates my brain, holds my attention, and this is very much me.

After all, this is A DEER IN WRITING, and if I'm not stumbling through this blog with wide eyes and a mixture of fear and excitement, then I'm probably not doing it right. I feel now how I felt when I launched my NEWSLETTER — and that brings me joy as I ADORE my newsletter.

It'll be so frikkin good, and I can't wait to share more with you, darling!
